BIOGRAPHY

I was born in Fairfax County, Virginia in 1998. Studied at Northern Virginia Community College for an Associates degree in Fine Art. Furthermore, I completed my BFA at Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in Illustration and Printmaking in 2021. My most prominent weapon of choice is graphite within my work. However, I am no stranger to experimenting with other mediums such as oil paint, digital illustration and printmaking techniques. I often “draw” from several sources of inspiration from movies and video games that delve into the horror genre. Other creators like the minds of Clive Barker, H.R. Giger and ZdzisÅ‚aw BeksiÅ„ski had a profound influence on me and my work.

The manipulation of the human anatomy in graphic and volatile ways. This is what my work is based upon, the basic definition of body horror. The violent display of human forms that entrances the viewer to look more upon the texture. The closer to the unfathomable landscape of the body presented before them. It becomes a demonstration of thought and emotion that are only expressed through the abstraction of the human form.

Amidst the pandemic, there were levels of frustrations within all of us including myself. Before pursuing art, I never thought of it as a way to express emotions that we would otherwise not speak of, a hidden side of us. After PAFA, I have fully embraced this process of expression. I am rather subtle or hidden about my emotions with no outlet, bottling them within myself. This graphic display assisted me to show these thoughts and feelings that were nearly impossible through the use of speech. My language without words.

Inspired mostly by interpretations of early body horror from examples like John Carpenter’s The Thing and Event Horizon. Additionally, growing up around artists like H.R. Giger and Clive Barker had a profound influence on me and my work.

These illustrations are the embodiment of what I perceive as body horror. Through the creative process, I developed the illustration based on the basic elements of body horror though the use of figures and human body parts. The process of traditional illustrative techniques through the use of graphite on prepared heavy duty paper. These works would be prepped for scanning and any digital corrections.
